5ECE Dominates CEA Basketball Tilt

The 5ECE team toppled all six otherCollege of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) playerswith their skillful offense and defence and impressive 3 and 2-point shots in the windup of the CEA Basketball Championshipfor the semis and finals on August 25th, September 1st, September 7th, 2012 in the University of Pangasinan-PHINMA Gymnasium, turning up the heat in spite of the onset of the “BER-months” which commonly refer to the cold months of September to December.

The PalarongCEA Basketball League, which is conducted in celebration of the CEA Fest, kicked off for the eliminations in (DATE) and finally commenced into the semis and finals which started August 25th. The semi-final starters were the 4CPE against the 2CE2. The opening game for the semis was finished off by an 87-81 victory for the 4CPE team which displayed remarkable shots that slammed the 2CE2’s door to finals.Succeeding the preliminary for the semis were the 5CE-3ECE1 and 5Archi-2CE1 matches, in favor of the 5CE and 2CE1 respectively, both teams winning to a more than 20-point landslide.

As September entered, only four teams among the (#) from the entire college were left to compete for that most-coveted basketball crown. The resumption of the play-offs was fired up by the 7-point win of the 5ECE against 4CPE which was fuelled by amazing passes and lay-ups, nailing down the first spot in the championship.Capturing the remaining place in the championship game was the 5CE team who outsmarted 2CE1 with excellent passes and assists and power rebounds and shots that ended up with a 57-48 victory.

The final game, which opened September 7th, erupted in an intense rivalry between the dedicated teams of 5ECE (Electronics and Computer Engineering) and 5CE (Civil Engineering) and their supporters in the University gymnasium that seemed to be battleground. In the championship game, both teams did not only exhibit intense and power shots and moves but have even displayed intelligent game plans to defeat their equal.

The first half was in favour of the 5CE scoring a 2-point lead against 5ECE. Not until the third quarter began when the 5ECE powered up and hound after the opponent’s score, finishing the quarter in a 51-50 blitz. The 5ECE maintained their incredible pace until reaching a final score of 84-78, declaring the team, with the entire ECE group, as the victor for the 2012 CEA basketball championship.
