What's Next?

by Louie Ann Chua

We post. They like.

Now what?

The blue-colored letter "f" has indeed become very well-known to us; even the baby bloomers are also into it. We use this site in order for us to be connected to our loved ones, friends and even strangers. We feel appreciated every time we're being noticed by means of others liking our status, photos, and some posts that has the thumbs up icon.

I'm sure most of us have an account for Facebook, especially students. I, as one, possess as well an account, primarily because almost everyone has one. But lately I've realized, shouldn't we use this site more effectively?

Let's be practical. What can we just from just being "liked" by someone you know and don't know? Isn't it much better if we use the letter "f" and the reversed letter "f" to express what are our opinions to our fellow students and be a part of the positive difference? Aside from influencing them to let their voices be heard throughout the campus and really enjoy the slogan, "Bigger! Better! Best!" to the highest level, how can take a leap of change to influence?

What will happen to the freedom of speech if we don't use it? Social networking sites were created for us to be entertained but wouldn't it be more wonderful if we, the students, will use it for the betterment of the place where we spent half of our lifetime with? So, instead of click, post, like, we must click, post, encourage, and do.

Let's be encouraged by one of Jose Rizal's statements: "one only dies once, and if one does not die well, a good opportunity is lost and will not present itself again". Be a part and give our role as a student a worthy education and life when we are still inside the campus.
